“The Healing Power of Sleep...Chief Nourisher of the Mind, Heart and Body” will be addressed by keynote speaker Dr. Sairam Parthasarathy. A lunch roundtable, “Arthritis Interrupted: The Latest Advances in Arthritis Research,” will feature UA Arthritis Center Director Dr. C. Kent Kwoh and center researchers; breakout sessions with doctors and alternative therapy practitioners will cover health and services that help improve daily life and promote strengthening the mind and body to manage arthritis.

“The Healing Power of Sleep...Chief Nourisher of the Mind, Heart and Body” will be addressed by keynote speaker Sairam Parthasarathy, MD, at the University of Arizona Arthritis Center’s 2015 Living Healthy With Arthritis conference on Saturday, Jan. 24, 9 a.m. to 3:45 p.m. (check-in begins at 8 a.m.), at the University of Arizona Medical Center-University Campus, DuVal Auditorium, 1501 N. Campbell Ave., Tucson. 

Dr. Parthasarathy is associate professor of medicine in the Division of Pulmonary, Allergy, Critical Care and Sleep Medicine of the Department of Medicine, UA College of Medicine – Tucson; medical director of the Center for Sleep Disorders at the UAMC-University Campus; associate director of Sleep and Circadian Sciences at the Arizona Respiratory Center; and program director of the UA Sleep Medicine Fellowship Program. 

The 2015 Living Healthy With Arthritis Conference also will cover information about health and services that help improve daily life and promote strengthening the mind and body to manage arthritis. Breakout sessions with doctors and alternative therapy practitioners will encourage patient empowerment through management of arthritis. 

The lunch roundtable, “Arthritis Interrupted: The Latest Advances in Arthritis Research,” will feature C. Kent Kwoh, MD, director of the University of Arizona Arthritis Center; John Szivek, PhD, director of the UA Robert G. Volz, MD, Orthopaedic Research Laboratory; and Joyce Wu, PhD, UA assistant professor of immunobiology. 

Conference registration is $15 per person ($20 after Jan. 12) and includes lectures, breakout sessions, materials and lunch. (Members of the University of Arizona Arthritis Center Friends attend free; registration required.) The fee is non-refundable and not tax-deductible. Free parking is available in the UAMC–University Campus Visitor/Patient Parking Garage (downloadable map), just south of the hospital’s main entrance, and in nearby UA Zone 1 lots.
