Introducing Tech Talk Tuesdays: Virtual Conversations around the Advancements of Technology in Health Sciences
This bi-weekly virtual series will ignite conversations around the advancements of technology within health sciences. First session is Tuesday, April 28 at 2 p.m.
We are pleased to introduce Tech Talk Tuesdays, a series of 30-minute virtual lectures brought to you by Faculty Commons + Advisory. These sessions are designed to engage thought leaders, experts, researchers and other health care professionals in conversations around the advancements of technology in health sciences.

Health and Technology: An Introduction with presenter Marie-Pierre Hasne, Pharm D, PhD, lecturer for the College of Medicine - Tucson in the Department of Chemistry and Biochemistry.
This presentation will address questions such as:
-What is technology?
-What is our relationship with technology?
-Do we control technology or does technology control us?
Tech Talk Tuesdays will occur every other week through June 2020, with the goal of transitioning from virtual to in-person sessions in the Health Sciences Innovation Building when we return to campus.

May 12: Telemedicine During a Pandemic
Presenter: Ronald S. Weinstein, MD, Director, Arizona Telemedicine Program
This presentation will address the ways in which telemedicine has played a central role in social distancing, how that practice can continue to improve, and how telemedicine can expand its services to vulnerable populations.
May 26: Managing Vulnerable Rural Populations and COVID-19
Presenter: Dan Derksen, MD, Walter H. Pearce Endowed Chair & Director, Arizona Center for Rural Health
This presentation will address the effects of COVID-19 on rural communities and how technology could be implemented to help mitigate some of the challenges facing these communities.
June 9: Mental Health Care in Digital Times
This presentation will address how mental health care has changed in digital times and the role technology plays in mental health care. Additionally, this presentation will touch on ways in which digital options for mental health care have supported patients throughout the pandemic.
June 23: Long-Term Innovation: Health Care post COVID-19
This presentation will address how innovation should be pursued and/or expanded in health sciences based on lessons learned during the pandemic.
