Dr. Macaraeg serves as a clinical assistant professor of medicine (rheumatology) in the University of Arizona College of Medicine – Tucson and holds the Charles W. and Sophie T. McKenzie Endowed Chair in Pediatric Rheumatology. She completed her undergraduate degree in molecular cellular biology with a minor in business at the University of Arizona. She received her medical degree from the University of Arizona College of Medicine – Tucson before going on to perform her residency in pediatrics at the University of Arizona, where she was the chief resident. She followed with her pediatric rheumatology fellowship at Cincinnati Children’s Hospital Medical Center and a master’s in clinical and translational science, also at the University of Cincinnati.

She has received numerous awards including the student and resident scholarship at the American College of Rheumatology (ACR) Annual Scientific Meeting and the ACR fellows-in-training travel scholarship. In addition, she received a clinical and translational fellowship scholarship at the University of Cincinnati. While earning her medical doctorate at the University of Arizona, she was awarded the leadership and education program for students in integrative medicine scholarship. She was also a member of the Gold Humanism Honor Society while in medical school.
