About the Lecture

This talk will focus on the latest advances underlying the development of rheumatoid arthritis including the role of genes and environment in increasing the risk of developing rheumatoid arthritis in some patients.  Dr. Sarkar will also discuss newer diagnostic tools that assist in the diagnosis and management of joint inflammation. The talk will also review the current advances in treatment options and timelines.

 

About Dr. Sarkar

Sujata Sarkar, MD, joined the University of Arizona Arthritis Center in fall of2007 as a faculty member and practicing rheumatologist.  She completed her rheumatology training and was on the faculty at the at the University of Michigan prior to coming to the UA. The most enjoyable part of her professional life is the relationships that she develops with her patients, most of whom have chronic illnesses. She considers herself fortunate that she is able to make a difference in lives of her patients.  Her research is focused on understanding the pathogenesis of rheumatoid arthritis. Dr. Sarkar has received numerous awards andrecognition from the Arthritis Foundation, University of Michigan, American College of Rheumatology and Central Society for Clinical Research.
