Nationally recognized rheumatologist Dr. Eric P. Gall discusses the history and development of osteoarthritis and advancements in treatment and research in this free presentation, open to the public, presented by the University of Arizona Arthritis Center
Dr. Eric Gall“Osteoarthritis Under the Microscope,” a free presentation, open to the public, will be held Wednesday, April 3, 6 to 7:30 p.m., at The University of Arizona Medical Center – University Campus, DuVal Auditorium, 1501 N. Campbell Ave., Tucson. Light refreshments are provided.
 
(Please note: There is a parking fee of $1.50 per hour, cash only, in The University of Arizona Medical Center – University Campus visitor/patient parking garage. Free parking is available after 5 p.m. in the UA Zone 1 permit and metered parking lot No. 2030 just south of the parking garage at East Mabel Street and Martin Avenue.)
 
Osteoarthritis is the most common type or arthritis in the country and the world at large. It is an ancient disease dating back thousands of years. The most common areas involved in osteoarthritis are spine and neck, hip, knee, hand and foot, although any joint can be involved.
 
In this lecture, nationally recognized rheumatologist Eric P. Gall, MD, MACP, MACR, will discuss the history and development of this type of arthritis and the latest cutting-edge advancements in the treatment and research of osteoarthritis designed to relieve pain and improve day-to-day function.

About Dr. Gall
 
Dr. Gall is founding and interim director of the University of Arizona Arthritis Center and professor of clinical medicine in the Department of Medicine Section of Rheumatology at the UA College of Medicine – Tucson. He is emeritus professor of medicine and former chief of medicine with the Chicago Medical School, Rosalind Franklin University of Medicine and Science, North Chicago. A national expert on innovative teaching methods, he returned to the University of Arizona Arthritis Center in 2010 to work with the fellowship program.
 
Dr. Gall has been elected by his peers for inclusion in Best Doctors in America® from 2001 to 2010. His research interests include new treatments for arthritis; the development of arthritis, metabolic bone disease and hemophilic arthritis (arthritis in hemophiliacs); and diseases with abnormal collagen that result in hypermobility (joint movement beyond the normal range of motion). He serves as an expert consultant on hypermobility disorders, such as Ehlers Danlos Syndrome.

The lecture is part of the 2013 series of “Living Healthy with Arthritis” monthly talks presented by the University of Arizona Arthritis Center at the UA College of Medicine – Tucsonand supported through the Susan and Saul Tobin Endowment for Research and Education in Rheumatology.
