Xiaoshan (Susie) Gong, MD

Dr. Xiaoshan Gong is a first year rheumatology fellow in the University of Arizona College of Medicine – Tucson. She earned her Bachelor of Science in Biology from the University of Nevada, Las Vegas before obtaining her medical degree from the Kirk Kerkorian School of Medicine at the University of Nevada, Las Vegas. She completed her internal medicine residency at the University of Arizona, where she developed interests in rheumatology, health disparities, and academic medicine.

During medical school and residency, Dr. Gong was actively engaged in clinical research and quality improvement initiatives. Her research includes studies on the impact of COVID-19 on Asian and Pacific Islander communities in Clark County, Nevada, as well as translational molecular biology work involving DNA replication and protein interactions. Dr. Gong has contributed to multiple peer-reviewed publications, including a case report on anti–HMG-CoA reductase immune-mediated necrotizing myopathy and foundational molecular biology research published in peer-reviewed journals.

She has demonstrated a strong commitment to service and community engagement through volunteer work with the Southern Nevada Health District Community Health Improvement Program, Opportunity Village, and university-based clinics, where she supported underserved populations and helped connect patients with essential social and medical resources.
