UArizona Arthritis Center's 'Bear Down Celebration Highlighted on KVOA-TV, Channel 4

The University of Arizona Arthritis Center's annual 'Bear Down Celebration' was featured by Sports Director Paul Cicala on Tucson's NBC-TV affiliate, KVOA/Channel 4. 

This event was held on Thursday, October 14, 2021 from 11:00 a.m. - 12:30 p.m. The title sponsor for this unique program was Desert Diamond Casinos. Dr. and Mrs. Robert G. Volz, Finley Distributing and the University of Arizona Arthritis Center Friends served as Silver sponsors.

This live studio audience and livestream presentation featured UArizona head women’s basketball coach Adia Barnes and Vice President for Athletics Dave Heeke. Coach Barnes shared a candid look into her team’s rise to prominence and its first appearance in the NCAA Women’s Basketball Final Four in 2021, while Heeke offered an overview on the past year in college athletics and detailed what is on the horizon in the 2021-22 year. Both also discused the the upcoming basketball season and give participants an inside look at Wildcat athletics on a conference and national level.

This meaningful collaboration began upon Hall of Fame basketball coach Lute Olson's arrival as the UA's head men's basketball coach in 1983. The partnership has helped raise nearly $2 million for arthritis research and education over the past 37 years. An event not to miss, each year brings a unique flair while highlighting athletics programming making headlines.
