McKenzie Bryn Cummins, DO
Dr. McKenzie Bryn Cummins is a first year rheumatology fellow in the University of Arizona College of Medicine – Tucson. She earned her Bachelor of Science in Biology from Arizona State University, before obtaining her Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine degree from Western University of Health Sciences College of Osteopathic Medicine of the Pacific. She completed her internal medicine residency at the University of Arizona, where she developed interests in rheumatology, quality improvement, and academic medicine.
Dr. Cummins has been actively engaged in clinical research and quality improvement initiatives, includes a project aimed at improving pneumococcal vaccination rates in the resident clinic through educational interventions and clinical decision support tools. Dr. Cummins received the American Medical Women’s Association Glasgow-Rubin Citation for Academic Achievement, and during residency was recognized with the Outstanding Resident in Rheumatology Award.
She has shown a strong commitment to service and patient-centered care through volunteer and clinical experiences in rural Mexico, pediatric care in Tanzania, and outpatient clinical settings in the United States. These experiences strengthened her interest in continuity of care, health equity, and caring for underserved populations.
