Presenter: John T. Schousboe, MD, PhD
Title: "Vertebral Fracture Recognition, Clinical Significance, and Management"

Dr. Schousboe has been a practicing rheumatologist at Park Nicollet Clinic in Minneapolis - St. Paul since 1987, a health services researcher since 2004, and since 1996 has served as the Director of the Park Nicollet Osteoporosis Center which is the provider of bone densitometry and metabolic bone disease consultative services for a patient population of over 500,000 people. He is a Past President of the International Society for Clinical Densitometry (ISCD), and currently chairs the ISCD Vertebral Fracture Recognition course. His major research interests are vertebral fracture assessment and epidemiology, the health care costs and cost-effectiveness of osteoporosis diagnostic screening procedures and health care management practices, and the detection and significance of abdominal aortic calcification on bone density lateral spine images. Over a 16-year research career, he has published over 170 peer-reviewed articles on these and other topics.
