Patients In Need
Over 1.2 million people across our state suffer each day with the serious health epidemic created by arthritis. Nearly 55 million Americans suffer from this complex family of musculoskeletal disorders consisting of more than 100 different diseases of conditions that can affect people of all ages, races and genders. Each year, people with arthritis account for 44 million outpatient visits and 992,100 hospitalizations nationwide. The leading cause of disability in the United States, arthritis is actually a more frequent cause of activity limitation than heart disease, cancer, or diabetes.

State-of-the-Art Healthcare Facilities
The affiliation with our primary clinical partner began in late February 2015 with the Arizona Board of Regents-approved merger of the University of Arizona Health Network with Banner Health. Banner is one of the largest nonprofit healthcare systems in the country with 28 acute-care hospitals and healthcare facilities. With more than 50,000 employees, it’s the leading nonprofit provider of hospital services in all the communities it serves and the largest private employer in Arizona. The company committed to spending at least $500 million in Tucson on capital improvements. This includes a new nine-story, state-of-the-art hospital tower and a three-story, 200,000-plus square feet outpatient ambulatory care facility adjacent to the UA Cancer Center – North campus. Banner - University Medicine includes two hospitals: Banner University Medical Center – Tucson and Banner - University Medical Center – South Campus, some 40 clinics, as well as a health plan division and the practice plan for physicians from the University of Arizona College of Medicine.
